My personal rants aside, I feel nintendo has gone all out for Animal Crossing New leaf (set for UK and US release between april and june) and I think that the game will be worth the wait. From the various Japanese playthroughs I have seen, I have been quite impressed with the overall gamplay and look of the game; the graphics are stunning and the new mechanics look like they will be fantastic to play.
For those of you who don't know here is a rundown of the improvements made to ACNL
- Bigger village
- More shops: garden centre, shoe shiners. club 44, thrift store, post office and more
- New Characters with new animal types too
- New character personalities
- Ability to paste patterns onto furniture
- You can hang items on the wall
- Improvements to items you can buy (as mayor) for the town (clocks, benches, bridges etc)
- Town types (late night, early bird etc)
- New fruit
- An island for multilayer games
- Swimming
- Trousers
- Bushes
- New Flowers
- Can build your house anywhere
- New tools (MEGAPHONE!!)
- Masseur who can make you "dream" about another players town enabling you to visit it while they're offline
- Model homes
- Ability to customise your home completely
- Town tree that grows as you play and acts as the Town Square
Overall I think that is a very impressive bucket load of new features that can be added to a game. Animal Crossing: New Leaf was the main reason I bought the 3DS and, while I'm sad to admit it, my 3DS is becoming rather underused and is begginging to collect dust in my gaming draw (what do you mean gaming draw? its a draw for games...duh!) so I realy could do with that boost to my game play. Personally I can't wait for this game to come out and I will be straight down the nearest game store the moment it does, and straight on here to review its wonderful bouncy content
